The Maltese cross is an eight-pointed cross with four V-shaped arms that meet at the center. It's a very famous symbol, most notably associated with the Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, who ruled the island of Malta from 1530 to 1798. Today, it remains the national symbol of Malta and appears on its civil ensign and euro coins.
Filigree :
