This is the famous laurel of ancient history, cultivated for centuries by the Greeks and Romans. It is grown for its aromatic foliage. An excellent plant that produces the aromatic bay leaf used in cooking.

Chances are you have a spaghetti sauce recipe that includes bay leaves. All Louisiana Chefs/Cooks know, the bay leaf is an aromatic cooking herb and a must have spice for their New Orleans cajun meals like i.e. Seafood Gumbos, Jambalayas, Etouffée Stew, Chicken & Sausage Gumbos.

Fresh (Laurel) Bay leaves can be used as a cooking spice and are often added to traditional Mediterranean dishes such as soups, stews and fish dishes. Their mild flavor enhances the taste of vegetables, meat, and poultry, with leaves retaining their flavor for several months.
