This smaller rack is designed to store your most common spices within hands reach so you don't waste time looking for spices when seasoning your food. Spices that are hidden in cabinets are often forgotten. This new rack stores up to six small spice jars and if you use more than six spices on a regular basis you can use two or more racks side-by-side for more storage. You can also use one rack for savory entrée spices and another rack for sweet dishes and desert spices. You can also use these racks to organize collections of spices used for different types of dishes such as Italian, steaks, seafood, Mexican, salads etc... With a small footprint the portable rack can be easily moved between kitchen pantry, countertops and stove.

MATERIALS: The frame is made from genuine imported Baltic birch, a premium grade of plywood often used for Scandinavian furniture, toys, musical instruments and sporting equipment. The metal rod is machined from aircraft grade aluminum alloy. The two screws are stainless steel and rustproof. Top notch materials are used throughout.

FINISH: The wood frame is finished in water-based clear coat that is Low VOC, odorless and non toxic. The aluminum rod receives a durable clear or black anodized finish. The stand can be cleaned with a damp cloth and all finishes are water resistant. At checkout you can also choose an unfinished option where the wood has been simply sanded smooth for you to apply your own DIY wood finish.

THE DESIGN. I designed a more functional and user-friendly spice rack for contemporary kitchens that would be a step above traditional spice racks that have outdated and awkward designs. This new spice rack is based on the signature sloping design of my popular media stands and record stands. It uses two of my favorite materials for a clean contemporary look; Baltic birch and Anodized Aluminum. The rack frame explores the characteristics of these two exceptional materials to achieve a lightweight and very strong rack that will hold up over time. The wood frame shows clean simple lines with minimum ornamentations for a modern and almost minimalist look. I followed the principles of Human-Centered Design taking into account the needs of the user, ergonomics and usability. The two frame holes can be used as handles to lift the rack and move it around. More than just a spice rack, this is a new approach to kitchen storage racks that will add interest to your kitchen décor and serve a purpose.

H A N D M A D E, I make this rack from scratch at my Colorado workshop. The aluminum rod is machined to size and threaded on my vintage lathe. The wood frames are shaped using CNC then go through multiple sanding and hand finishing steps using clear coat for a smooth durable finish. The anodize finish on the aluminum rod is done to perfection at a local metal finishing shop. Although this is a handmade product, the design details were finalized on my computer using modern CAD software for a perfect fit and a quality end result. When considering pricing please remember that this is a one-of-a-kind handmade product that required several hours and many details to be created in addition to expenditures with materials, tools, postage and Etsy fees.
