What is considered "vintage"?

Vintage (pre-2007) and antique (pre-1930) items will be stated in the title. Much of what we sell was found in old warehouses, shops, and foundries. Items are almost always discovered in multiples, often with some of the original packaging materials. This also helps us to accurately age an item. If an item is a new item or supply, it will be stated as such.

What is the size of the item?

Item measurements are included with every description and in most titles, but we are always happy to convert standard to metric for you, and metric to standard. Just ask! Many listing photos contain a US penny for size comparison.

Why does a vintage or antique medal look new?

Unless otherwise stated, most of our religious medals are old unsold shop stock. Most of the aluminum pieces we offer for sale are extremely vintage, even antique. Some bear the original foundry markings, and most have come from Europe. In the late 1800s, aluminum was considered more valuable than gold or silver. In the early 1900s the refinement was simplified, and aluminum became an inexpensive material. This meant that small medals or devotionals were finally obtainable by anyone, even if they could not afford precious metals.
