One of the most beautiful examples of hand worked Chinese embroidery I have ever seen - and in phenomenal condition! This magnificent Mandarin or wedding skirt is covered in exquisite embroidery on both sides with a bird and peony pattern on red silk. It is in excellent condition. The needlework is simply phenomenal! It is wearable and would fit a small person probably up to a size 6. It would be a wonderful addition to any textile collection. I acquired this wonderful skirt from the estate of a textile collector and it is evident from the fine condition that this skirt has been maintained with great care. There is no fading, staining, tears, or any damage that I can see. It looks new, but the workmanship clearly dates it to the 1920s or earlier. This gorgeous textile also makes a striking wall hanging.
