Vintage from the 1970s

C. Roberts signed, original abstract cityscape painting on canvas, in original frame. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure if this is an oil or acrylic painting, but the colors are beautifully intense either way. As found, good vintage condition for age and use with some crazing in paint. Frame has nicks, dents, scratches and corner wear. The painting is textured, a light impasto paint style on canvas on the city with wide brush strokes for the background. Its been wiped down but may need a deeper cleaning. C. Roberts was probably known more for his great stylized pair of owls on a bare tree paintings.

Size: approximately 24.75" x 24.75" frame - square

Originally purchased at Gold Circle, there’s a partial price tag (17.50) from Gold Circle on the back of frame. Gold Circle was a discount department store chain based in Ohio. Founded in 1967, it was a division of Federated Department Stores with 76 stores when the chain was sold and dismantled in 1988, info from Wikipedia.
