Louisiana Heron Print, Audubon Birds of America Tricolored Heron, Shore House Art, Sea & Wading Bird, Giclée Fine Art Coastal Wall Decor

This Louisiana Heron print by John James Audubon features Louisiana Heron - now known as the Tricolored Heron shown in a lush Southern wetland landscape. The deep slate-blue plumage, long neck and delicate yellow legs stand out against the palms, water and dense green vegetation.

Tricolored Herons live mainly in coastal and freshwater wetlands of the southeastern United States, including Louisiana, Florida and the Gulf Coast. They are often found around marshes, lagoons, mangroves, tidal flats and shallow ponds, where they hunt small fish, frogs, crustaceans and aquatic insects.

I especially like the rich blue coloring in this plate and the almost tropical background. Audubon gave the bird a dramatic scale while still including enough of its wetland habitat to make the print feel like a complete landscape rather than just a bird study.

A beautiful choice for a bird gallery wall, coastal or Southern home, study, library, office, or natural history collection.

• 300 GSM MATTE:
This matte paper is a 300 gsm, smooth (hot press), 300 gsm, 100% cotton rag fine art archival paper and an ideal paper for people who feel most comfortable with a matte paper and want a very heavyweight paper. The final result is a vividly colored print that shows fine details.
