Dog Snoods are made from dog print fabric with bones and paw prints. Our handmade snood is an ear covering to protect ears and ear fringe from food during feeding. Neckwear for many dog breeds like the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cocker Spaniels, English Springer Spaniel, English Toy Spaniel, and any dog with drop ears.
Dog Snoods come in three sizes:
Small 12-19 pounds
Medium 20-30 pounds ***The gathered end goes across the top of your dog's head***
Large 31 + pounds
Not all prints will come in each size and since this is a handmade product there may be slight variations due to thickness of each fabric and adding the elastic can slightly vary; Message me with breed and weight if you want additional help deciding on size.
We greatly appreciate feedback with your breed, weight and size snood that works best for your breed. Your feedback can help other customers when choosing a size for their dog. NOTE: we are discovering with some feedback where the size seems too big that they are putting the gathered end of the snood under the chin. The gathered section goes across the top of the head!
Here is our list so far:
Bassett Hound bought large snood and fit great!
Beagle, our Beagle is 20 pounds and the Small fits snug, but I prefer the Medium for her
Cavaliers, both Small and Medium going by weight; Small gives tighter fit at 18 or 19 pounds
We have 14 pound Cavalier and Small fits perfectly
We also have 17 pound Cavalier and Small fits perfectly, but she can also wear the Medium
The Medium is looser, but it does fit.
Cocker Spaniel, we have mixed feedback. Our first feedback with Cocker weighing 25 pounds did
better with Small size. We also received feedback for another Cocker Spaniel ordering
the Medium size and it fit perfectly. My advice is to go with the size chart and choose the size
for the weight of your Cocker and then make sure gathered section is worn on top of head.
English Springer Spaniel, 45 pounds, our Large is based on this breed
Papillon, 9 pounds, our small snood fit just fine, this breed has ears that stand up with fringe, so
I recommended to put the gathered end under the chin to give room for the stand up ears.

Our Dog Snoods are handmade using a serger and sewing machine. We put a ruffled rolled hem using our serger around both sides of the dog snood. We also put a gathered strip across the top of the snood so when the snood is put on the gathered strip sits across the top of the head and the ears are gently placed on each side and can remain hanging inside the dog snood. This makes for a more comfortable fit. See photos to see rolled hem on sides and gathered section at the top of the snood. Note: The gathered section can be cut off with scissors and the snood becomes a tube snood which is also a common dog snood. As a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeder for 17 years, I feel my Cavaliers prefer the gathered section at the top as it makes it quick to put on and off.
When do I use a dog snood? You can use a snood during feeding time and/or during daily walks. Also, use a snood if you like to give your dogs any type of bone as ears can accidentally get on the bone during chewing and off comes a section of the ear. The snood will protect your dog’s ears during feeding time so no food can get on them as this can lead to licking and chewing the ends of the ear fringe. The snood can also make going outside a bit easier...if your dog has long ears that drag on the ground you probably see them stepping on the tips of the ear fringe that is dragging on the ground when their nose is near the ground sniffing. The snood will help to keep the ears safely inside the snood making it easier to walk and sniff the ground without constantly stepping on their ears.
Safety: You will need to be present when your dog is wearing a snood. During mealtime it is needed just for a few minutes and your dog will probably learn to use their paw to take it off once their meal is eaten. If your dog runs freely in the yard, it may be difficult to keep a snood on them...if you take them on walks with a leash you will be there to see that the snood stays on during their walk outside. I introduce the snood to my dogs during mealtime. I feed each of my dogs in a crate so when the snoods come out my dogs associate the snood with mealtime. Once I have them eating with the snood on, I can then move on to them wearing it outside during our walks on the leash or with supervision in the yard. Snoods do not need to be worn all day. Floppy ears need ventilation to stay healthy and wearing a snood too much could lead to ear infections. Snoods are items we use briefly during meals and outside to help us in our quest to keep those ears fashionable!
