COULD PLAYING WITH A WOODEN TOY GIRAFFE BE INTERESTING?

Children are naturally fascinated by giraffes because these animals look unusual. They like to possess figurines and contemplate them, but we believe that our artistic wooden toy animals could be used in much more ways to foster meaningful play through learning the facts of nature. Knowledge begets curiosity, and it provides more scenarios to be enacted, problems to be solved, and words to be spoken. Open-ended play grows richer and longer.

Children, however, need some help from adults. It will not take much time for parents or teachers to read about giraffes and note down some impressive facts, which they could use as conversation starters. You know your child best, and you can figure out which topics are suitable for their stage of development.

A giraffe might have a strangely long neck and unique pattern, but it is related to other animals, such as cows, sheep, goats, antelopes, deer. What is the thing that relates them to one another? Invite your children to think about other species it knows and see how they are similar. When they figure out that these animals eat similar food and digest in similar ways, they could concentrate on how giraffes reach their food and how their bodies are adapted to obtain it easier. Then you could show how a giraffe is part of a food chain, and throw in more animals into play. Although adult giraffes are big and strong, they might be attacked by lions and even crocodiles. Young giraffes might fall prey to leopards, hyenas and wild dogs. Then you can explore how giraffes share the same habitats with other herbivores and how being together helps all species survive. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Do not soak in water. Wash each toy separately with soapy water with some vinegar. Rinse as quickly as possible. Immediately dry with a towel. Let air dry.
For disinfection you can use rubbing alcohol. We recommend spiritus aethylicus for medical purposes.
Do not put on or near heaters. Do not keep under direct sunshine for too long. Moisture and heat can cause warping and cracking in wood, so wooden products should not be exposed to these for too long.
When toys feel too dry, they need to be oiled and / or waxed. We recommend linseed oil and beeswax waxes. Other oils and waxes could be used too: mineral oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil. Vegans can use carnauba wax instead of beeswax.
