These Karlsbad Sprudelsteinen are a dark brown variation of brown aragonite, from Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary), a spa town in the west of the Czech Republic. In Karlovy Vary, at least since the Bronze Age, about 2000 liters of hot, mineral-rich water flows every minute into the thermal springs, today's tourist attractions. It is precisely this mineral-rich water that has shaped and continues to shape this beautiful aragonite for generations. Ideally, they will show clear stripes in various shades of brown, sometimes along with a slight wave pattern. This is exactly the case with the aragonite tumbled stones from Karlovy Vary on offer here.

The rock is formed as a mineral secretion and deposit from hot springs due to temperature changes or the release of carbon dioxide. It is calcium carbonate in crystalline form. As such, it is mineralogically mapped to aragonite. The hardness is between 3 and 4. It is called pea stone in the form of spheres or white branched aggregates.
