INTAGLIO pattern DOT LEAF I
My rubber stamp mats offer hand drawn images, most with reflective symmetry. This means they match side to side and top to bottom making large overall patterning a reality. Each Intaglio flexible rubber stamp mat measures 7" x 9" and all produce deep clean impressions.
I teach hand building ceramic clay at art centers where the current trend to embellish the clay slab surface before transforming it into a recognizable form is all the rage. Products used by my students for patterning run the gamut from cake decorating roulettes to Viburnum leaves but there was never an easy way to achieve something like an all over paisley. True, there are an abundance of smaller rubber stamps out there for PMC and polymer clay purposes but few flexible pattern sheets are available just for ceramic clay applications and I found none with reflective symmetry. A pattern with reflective symmetry allows the user to create a match side to side as well as top to bottom… so the pattern being impressed on the clay surface becomes endless! See the last picture marked "6-UP" to see how 6 of these mats look when printed together.
The easiest way to use this mat to create a shaped press mold tray is to purchase the pictured corresponding #4 light weight wood shaped press mold from Drop Bach (https://www.facebook.com/dropbach) or from Catfishstu on Etsy.https://www.etsy.com/listing/401138305/press-mold-shapes-for-clay-from-drop?ref=shop_home_active_1
I have posted a picture of a Raku piece made by Marcia Reiver, Rosemont, PA as well as other pieces made from this Intaglio mat like the piece from BellaTerra Ceramics - https://www.etsy.com/listing/510431108/ceramic-herb-and-flower-planter-with-art?ref=shop_home_active_6
My Intaglio mats can be used to create designs in clay and soap or in metal etching, scrap booking and wall patterning. Anywhere you can use a rubber stamp you can use an Intaglio mat! Making Ceramic Clay Press trays, dishes and catchalls with this design on it can be so easy using the wood forms of David Weisdenbach on Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/shop/DropBach
