Custom and personalized orders

We do accept and excel at custom orders. Please be aware that custom orders entail additional costs due to added labor, materials, and/or design time. Additional costs and time are determined on a per item basis. Please message me to discuss. If you would like to speak in person, please send your phone number and we will arrange a time. For best results, please machine-wash gentle cycle or hand wash with cold or warm water using a mild, phosphate-free detergent. Machine dry on low heat or hang to dry. Avoid drying on high heat to prevent further shrinkage over time, and to preserve the beauty and life of your clothing. Colors should not bleed, but I recommend washing your garment separately the first time, then with like colors in the future. Because your garment is dyed using fiber reactive dyes, it is important to not let clothes sit wet, but rather remove from the washer promptly in order avoid staining other garments when wet.

Shipping & Turn-Around Time

All items are shipped with tracking numbers by USPS First Class or Priority Mail within the US and internationally. Lost or stolen packages will not be replaced. If you would like extra insurance to be added to your package, please make a note of it upon checkout. All in-stock “ready-to-ship” items will be mailed within 2 days of purchase. Made-to-order items will be shipped within 2 - 3 weeks from receipt of payment. Custom orders will be shipped as soon as possible, but within 3 weeks to a month’s time.

Returns and Exchanges

Due to the nature of MADE-TO-ORDER work, Surya Leela has a NO REFUND policy. If there is a production or workmanship problem, please contact me within 14 days of purchase. You may send it back to be repaired or replaced, or we can discuss reimbursement for repair by your local tailor. Please contact me first if wanting to send anything back for further customization or alteration. Doing so requires payment for additional costs for labor, materials, and shipping. EXCHANGES for an alternate SIZE or COLOR will be charged a restock fee of 50% the cost of the garment. Exchanges for an alternate STYLE will receive a credit of 30% the cost of original garment (up to $50) and the exchange must be for an item of equal value or less.

Fabric & Production Process

All fabric is organic and eco-sustainable. Hemp and Flax are environmentally friendly crops, using less water and being naturally pest-resistant and less volatile than cotton. Though blends are used most often to minimize environmental impact, cotton is delightful, and the organic cotton fabrics I use feel amazing. Cloth is purchased in its un-dyed, natural state (with the exception of black) then garment-dyed using Procion, fiber-reacticve dyes to minimize skin irritation and environmental degradation. Hand-stamped patches are applied (unless otherwise specified) along with any trimming of threads and other finishing required). Once production is finished your items are tastefully and securely packaged and readied for shipping.

More about Natural Fabrics

Slubs in the hemp blend fabrics are normal and are a feature of natural fabrics like hemp, flax, silk, and wool. Every effort is made to minimize them, but they happen. Picking does make slubbing worse. Slubbing generally does not cause a weakness in the knit. They can be darned if necessary.

Freshen up a garment made by Surya Leela Designs, a piece of fabric, or upgrade an item from elsewhere by having it custom re-dyed a dynamic color you love to wear!

Synthetic fibers and some blends require a completely different dye and process and are accepted on a case-by-case basis. If accepted, they will require an additional fee based on the time, materials, and processing required.

Many store-bought items are sewn with polyester or polycotton thread, which means the stitching will not take the fiber-reactive dye for plant fibers. This means you’ll have a contrast unless the garment is sewn with 100% cotton thread.

PRICING:
The $85 listing price covers the custom re-dye of one standard garment or piece of fabric using our standard dye process and one of the colors shown in the color chart.
If you want multiple items dyed in multiple colors, please reach out for a quote.

Some projects require additional time, materials, or multiple dye baths. This may include:

* oversized garments or large amounts of fabric
* multiple items
* multiple colors
* custom color matching
* color correction
* projects requiring more than one dye run
* accepted synthetic fiber projects

If an additional charge is needed, we will always contact you before beginning your project.

PROCESS:

1. If you have any questions, send a note to seller and we will answer them. It is recommended that you package your item(s) and be ready to send them BEFORE you place your order. This ensures speedy delivery to and from our studio.
2. Complete your order choosing a color from the color chart in the listing photos.

Note: Custom colors (those not normally kept in stock) are available for an upcharge of $30. Please send a convo first if you think you might be interested in a custom color.

3. The “Ship To” address will be sent to you through Etsy messages. Put it on your package with the correct postage.

4. Ship your garment! (using the “Ship To” address provided after your order is placed). The quicker you send your item, the quicker we can send it back to you. Turnaround time from the time we receive your item is typically 1–3 business days, but may take up to a week or two depending on the project.

5. We will send back a richly re-dyed piece of clothing or fabric for you to enjoy!

It's really nice for the material the jacket was! Just fyi for anyone else reading this review: there were parts of my jacket that were still the original cream color. The lady, I forget your name I'm so sorry, explained to me that since it wasn't canvas that some of the color wouldn't take/take as well in some places, so I can't really fault anybody for that.
