"The Divine Origins of the Craft of the Herbalist" by Sir E.A. Wallice Budge (1928) Illustrated.

This is a DIGITAL PDF version of this 93 page vintage book.

This cool book traces the craft of herbal medicine to man's early days and explores the belief of early societies that the use of plants and herbs for medicinal purposes were delivered to mankind by the gods. The author discusses the earliest uses of herbalism in Egypt, Sumer, Babylonia, and Assyria, which was a foundation for the use of herbal medicine in Greece, and then this craft spread through Asia and Europe. Fascinating if you are a fan of plant and flower, medicine, essential oils, medicine in ancient times, etc.

Sir Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge was an English Egyptologist, Orientalist, and philologist who worked for the British Museum. He made numerous trips to Egypt and the Sudan on behalf of the British Museum to buy antiquities, and helped it build its collection of cuneiform tablets, manuscripts, and papyri. In 1920, he was knighted for his service to Egyptology and the British Museum. Budge was also interested in the paranormal, and believed in spirits and hauntings. Budge had a number of friends in the Ghost Club, a group in London committed to the study of alternative religions and the spirit world.

It's helpful to know that this author tends to mix his opinions into his works, so you will notice that he is vocal about certain practices being "savage" and "ridiculous", etc. But still, his books are amazing to read!

Super fascinating book if you want to understand the origins of plant medicine, essential oils, herbalisms, their magic, and their connection to the divine!

Enjoy!

Love, Nicky Dragon
