Does HenryForrestVintage accept returns and exchanges?

All sales are final. Returns, exchanges and partial refunds are not accepted once an item is sold. We understand that it can be difficult to purchase vintage items without first touching, smelling, checking seams and fabric integrity. We closely inspect, pull and tug on fabric, check for mends and damage, measure, and hand launder our items. This gives us a very detailed picture of each vintage piece. Please ask as many questions as you need, to make an informed decision. We love questions and are very happy to provide additional photos and measurements.

Does HenryForrestVintage offer discounts, markdowns and best offers?

Yes! We routinely monitor our shop for activity and reduce our prices when an item has been hanging around too long. Please check back, you may find your favorited item on sale. We often run discounts to repeat buyers, potential customers who have our items in their cart , and to those who have favorited our items. We do accept offers. We can not guarantee that your offer will be accepted but we will always negotiate with you. Some items may be consigned and we will need to check with the owner for their best offer. Our purpose is to offer excellent vintage clothing with integrity and caring customer service, and at a reasonable price. We appreciate our customers.

Does HenryForrestVintage clean vintage clothing and textiles before sending them to their customer?

Usually. We wash by hand, items that can safely tolerate being submerged in water. For the most durable and potentially soiled garments, we soak in warm, soapy water in a bowl or washing sink that is dedicated to clothing. A hand-held sprayer is used to gently and thoroughly rinse. Denim and such will go into the washing machine. Delicate vintage jersey such as thin t-shirts, are hand washed and fresh air dried. We have found that most items can be hand washed with common sense, precaution and care. We prefer hand washing to the chemicals in dry cleaning, when possible. We will indicate if an item has been washed. If we choose to leave dry cleaning to the customer, we will indicate that in the listing.

What does HenryForrestVintage sell?

Vintage and antique clothing, home and art. As reference, we consider vintage items to be approximately forty years or older. Antique items are one hundred years or more. Most of our items date from 1900 through 1980’s.

We have a one to two day processing time. Please know that we are working diligently to process and deliver your items quickly. Your package will typically ship same or next day. Most garments have been pre-processed (washed, pressed & packaged). We will give you a shipping date estimate when we receive your order. Packages are occasionally delayed due to an unforeseen circumstance. Our post office is often short of staff which seems to be affecting dispatch and delivery times. Please check your tracing number for updates.

We have had many fantastic conversations with buyers and potential buyers. We appreciate your questions and insight. It is a great feeling to send a package, knowing that our buyer knows everything we know about their vintage item. The Etsy community is intelligent, creative and beautiful. Flaws, fabric, odor, mothballs

Vintage textiles change over time. Rayon develops a distinct odor, silk and cotton will break down. Wool and silk are susceptible to insects and very often smells of mothballs. This happens after a full life with previous owner(s), being passed down and modified. Some antique textiles smell of old books, libraries, these items were in an ideal environment. Mothballs were common and the odor is clinging, and can remain for decades. 100 year old lingerie often has the distinct odor of mothballs. I would never sell you something that smells bad. Though, please be aware that vintage items will have an odor that represents their previous life and storage. Carefully cared for and laundered clothing will still have an imprint of their past.

Vintage 1920’s, to early 1930’s, cotton elf or clown costume. Just noticed that I forgot to photo the hat, will add soon. Costme looks more vibrant in photos, the sun was just right when taken. Last photos are most accurate.

Lightweight, woven cotton. Blouse has dagged collar with bells, sleeves are same. Blouse snaps up the back. Gathered shoulders give a pretty, feminine effect.

Vest is lined in white cotton. Handmade holes for a cord to be woven through, corset or pirate style. Original was missing so I added a black, smooth silk cord. Cinches in to create a corseted silhouette. Faint stains on the inside of corset.

Pants have new elastic waistband. They are fairly roomy. Corresponding dagged cuffs and bells.

Fantastic, old costume. Hems, cuffs are raw and unfinished/un-hemmed. Cotton fabric and seams are sturdy enough for wear, always with care. Missing bells but many to work with and they make a beautiful sound with movement.

Few old, small stains, loose threads. This is a homemade, very likely one of a kind costume. Possibly made for a pageant or theater production. A very lovely example of early costume, particularly the use of bells.

Fade on vest, some areas of variegated dye, lightened areas where it looks like bleach may have splashed. The sun makes the colors appear more vibrant, it has fading. Raw edges, missing several bells. Two pin holes on the red collar. The colors are not as vibrant as the first photos indicate. The sun was coming in and made everything look very vibrant.
