This Laura Ashley red toile fabric has been out of print for quite a few years and is very hard to find. This is the original, authentic Laura Ashley English Country toile, not one of the more recent copies that has a different name. The toile is a classic French design from the 1700s. The colors are shades of raspberry red on an off-white background. Details:
• Generously cut, fully adjustable: Fits wider boards up to 18 inches across, 55 inches long, as well as standard 15-inch wide boards. It is shown on an 18-inch wide board, so less of the design will show along the long sides on a 15-inch board
• Very durably constructed: The edge of the fabric is serged to prevent fraying, then encased in bias binding that is separately stitched to both sides of the cover. I made the binding from a premium quilting cotton with a tiny floral design on a red background. (The binding does not show when the cover is on, as it is underneath the board.) The drawstring is adjustable premium elastic with a cord-lock closure to use for making adjustments and to secure the elastic. A separate fabric stop prevents the elastic from slipping through the cord lock or back into the casing. The cover will be perfectly tight and smooth on any board, using the simple instructions that send with every cover.
• The cover is not padded. It should be used over a pad to avoid wear along the edges. You can use your existing pad or purchase a new one elsewhere. See my recommendations about ironing board pads below.
• The cover is durable drapery weight fabric with a linen-like weave, perfect for ironing. The fabric is a combination of cotton and linen fibers and is treated with soil and stain release finish. It can be machine washed in cool water and line dried or machine-dried on Low. Washing will remove the stain release finish. Dry cleaning with at-home sheets or professionally preserves the finish.

ABOUT IRONING BOARD PADS: I used to make ironing board covers with attached pads. I discovered that my own covers wear and wash much better without a pad, and that a separate thick wool pad is better than any attached pad, so I started making all my covers without pads. You can use your existing pad, make one, or purchase a new one elsewhere. My personal preference for an ironing board pad is a 3/8-inch thick wool felt pad, found at Sonoma Wool Company or on Amazon (such as a Rdutuok New Zealand wool pad). If you use one of my covers, the elastic edge on the cover will hold your pad in place — you don't need to cut it down to the exact size of your board.
