Original Painting of a Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson
Lapwings used to be familiar farmland and wetland birds, but sadly they are now a red-listed bird of conservation concern. Whilst at a distance the birds, particularly in flight, look black and white, up close they have a stunning iridescence across their feathers. They are also known as Peewits, which refers to their call, and this accompanies a male’s aerial tumbling display that he puts on for the females.

Packaging & Materials
I have used 100% cotton watercolour paper and the finest brushes to produce the tiny details which bring this painting to life.
The painting will be carefully wrapped in cellophane and protected with additional packing. I aim for my originals to arrive with you in the same condition that they left me. I use the Royal Mail’s ‘Signed for Next Day’ or ‘International Tracked’ service.
A bit about me
I am a full time professional artist based in North Devon in the United Kingdom. Specialising in wildlife - animals, birds, insects and botanical studies, I love to capture the life within my paintings. I very much enjoy the process of working with the watercolour medium to create fine detail. My portfolio is ever expanding and many of my paintings are available as tutorials - both written and video.
