Let your dog sniff it → treat again
Repeat until your dog gets excited seeing it
You want the reaction to be: “Oh, good things happen when this appears.”
𝟐. 𝐍𝐨𝐬𝐞-𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐭)
Put a treat inside the muzzle
Let your dog voluntarily put their nose in
Don’t fasten it yet
Repeat several short sessions
𝟑. 𝐀𝐝𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 + 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐬
Once comfortable, gently hold the straps behind the head for 1–2 seconds
Reward immediately
Slowly increase time
Eventually fasten it briefly, then remove and reward
