Original Painting of a Rooster (Gallus domesticus) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson
Roosters are usually larger and more brightly coloured than hens. Hens prefer roosters with larger combs and taller points, they also have an eye for evenly formed wattles! The long, shiny neck feathers, known as a hackle, are used by the male as he shows off and puffs himself up for the female, but his other job is to keep his hens safe. As such, he usually has half an eye looking out for any potential threats.

Packaging & Materials
I have used 100% cotton watercolour paper and the finest brushes to produce the tiny details which bring this painting to life.
The painting will be carefully wrapped in cellophane and protected with additional packing. I aim for my originals to arrive with you in the same condition that they left me. I use the Royal Mail’s ‘Signed for Next Day’ or ‘International Tracked’ service.
A bit about me
I am a full time professional artist based in North Devon in the United Kingdom. Specialising in wildlife - animals, birds, insects and botanical studies, I love to capture the life within my paintings. I very much enjoy the process of working with the watercolour medium to create fine detail. My portfolio is ever expanding and many of my paintings are available as tutorials - both written and video. Take a look on my channels, and you may see this painting being created, maybe even have a go yourself!
Thank you for browsing my work, and I look forward to hearing from you.
