Vintage 1920s 1930s Puppies Bookends a Pair | Antique Naturally Distressed Spelter Bookends | Three Orphan Puppies | Shelf Styling Decor

Charming pair of vintage to antique bookends featuring three puppies peering over a fence. Two larger dogs are on each side of a stone wall and squeezed between them is a smaller dog--so cute. Made of spelter and painted black, they have become naturally distressed over time with loss of paint; the verdigris patina seen in the photos is much less prominent in person--the bookends look mostly black. The bottom felt is a replacement. They measure 6" tall x 3-5/8" wide x 4" deep. Great addition to a child's bookshelf or nursery decor. Our research indicates that these were originally designed by sculptor A. Kelly and titled "Orphans"; however, we have been unable to independently verify or find any information about this artist.
