What material is recommended for most Winetopia files?

1/8” MDF is the recommended material for most files containing fine details. Low end birch purchased from local hardware stores is not recommended on fine line cuts. It tends to break and char easily. Materials need to measure between .12-.125” thick. You can measure your materials with a digital caliper to find the exact thickness of your material. You can purchase this item online. Also most wood tends to measure outside of 1/8” (.125”) and can range between .10” to .164” and still be sold as 1/8” material. So always be sure to measure your materials prior to buying or cutting files that require exact measurements. For 1/4” files, be sure your materials are within .25-.26” thick. I cannot adjust files to fit individual materials.

What do you recommend I sell these for once I make them?

I cannot answer questions about what you charge your customers in your area. Prices will vary based on location, materials used, cost of manufacturing, time spent on the project, and customer base. I don’t have marketing experience to be able to provide that information as well as the logistics in your area. I recommend looking at what is trending in your particular area, factoring in your costs, your time, and local competition. As well as the mean average income of your potential customers. What may sell for a certain price in my area may not sell for the same price in your area. Therefore I must refrain from providing pricing guidelines at this time.

What settings should I use?

One thing most people ask is what settings they should set their laser. There are three Glowforge models. Each model operates at different speeds. Unfortunately I don’t know the settings for each machine. Settings are determined by the type of material you are using and which laser you own. I personally prefer MDF and I use the draft board setting. I am not comfortable taking a guess and providing you with settings for materials I am unfamiliar with as it may damage your project. There are user forums on Facebook where these kinds of questions can be answered by those who own the different makes and models of each Glowforge or laser and who are familiar with the different materials available. I cannot offer settings for other types of laser

Everything should be set to cut. there are no score options or engraving options.

Recommend cutting these with 1/8" MDF or high end birch due to the intricate designs. I purchase my MDF at GS2 Awards. I DO NOT RECOMMEND cutting these with low end birch as they will char and break easily. These are fine intricate cuts that low end wood does not do well with. I never recommend using wood from a hardware store on any intricate designs. Please be sure to use the recommended materials when cutting these.

I used chalk paint to paint these and distressed with ink art crayons. I have a video on YouTube on how to assemble these and in my Facebook group.

Feel free to join my Facebook group for paint and materials tutorials

Sellers do not email the links you receive following your purchase. That is an automated system that sends a link that directs you back to your account. That email does NOT contain the actual files you purchased. It is a link that takes you to the Etsy website where you will need to log into your account. If you know your email associated with your Etsy and your password you do NOT NEED that link you were sent nor do you need to have access to that email account. All you need to do is log on, click on your picture in the top right hand corner where your account icon is. There is a triangle drop down. You click that and you will see a menu. You will see purchases. Click that. You will see your files ready to download. If you don’t know your password, that will be an issue. You will need to contact Etsy support to assist you with password recovery. Please be sure your email addresses are updated regardless when using Etsy. You can update your email address in settings on the Etsy website. Or you can contact Etsy buyer support to assist you with updating your account. As a seller who also works a highly stressful full time job I am unable to check my messages throughout the day to properly assist with these issues. I know some sellers are available throughout the day and can provide assistance but not all of us are. Please extend some grace to all Etsy Sellers and assume we are all on some wild journey and a million miles from home.

Also, did you know it’s against Etsy terms and conditions to email out files?? Yes! We are actually NOT ALLOWED to take conversations off of the Etsy platform and have private conversations through email. Please do your due diligence and update your account details so you won’t have to message sellers for files.

Thank you for visiting my shop and happy crafting!!
