The enigmatic Was scepter existed in ancient Egyptian art right from its beginnings, and is depicted in carvings dating back to the First Dynasty (about 3130 BCE). Generally shown as a staff with a forked end and topped with a stylized animal head, it is strongly associated with the god Set or Seth. Set, best known for his role as the murderer of his brother Osiris, was surprisingly popular in early Egypt, when he was seen as the powerful god of chaos, storms, and the desert. Set served as Ra's protector as he traveled through the underworld on his night barque, standing at the prow to spear the evil serpent Apep.
In later dynasties, with the rise of Osirian cults, Set's more villainous traits were emphasized and his popularity waned, but the Was scepter continued to appear as a symbol of Pharaonic might, and the ultimate representation of power over chaos.
My version of the Was scepter is based on several hieroglyphic examples, and includes the typical forked end and a stylized Set-animal head. Sleek, paradoxically modern, and lightweight, it comes with a sterling cable chain.
• Was scepter pendant cast in sterling silver from hand-fabricated model
• Pendant measures 1 1/8" (28 mm) high, excluding ring
• Available with sterling silver cable chain in your choice of 16", 18", or 20" length

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Please note that orders shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees levied by the government of the destination country. You may be required to pay these charges upon delivery of your order.
Customs policies vary widely from country to country and are subject to frequent changes, so you may want to check with your local customs office for more information before ordering. Also, customs procedures may cause delays beyond the estimated delivery date. I cannot guarantee delivery of international orders by a specific date. Although most orders arrive within 7 to 14 days, I strongly recommend allowing at least 21 days for delivery and customs clearance if you need your order in time for a special occasion.
The full value of the order will be declared on the customs form. Please note that I cannot mark the item as a "gift"; this is not possible when using Etsy's shipping system, and it is a violation of Federal law.
I have no control over, or any way of predicting, the customs fees and procedures of the destination country.
Thanks for your understanding, and I truly appreciate your business!
