Learn to Paint an Eastern Bluebird in Watercolour, with my Step by Step Downloadable PDF Tutorial

Many North Americans will be familiar with the Eastern Bluebird, as it readily takes to nest boxes. The species prefers open countryside with patchy vegetation, where the birds can be seen sitting on fences and power cables, and feeding on insects. They also like to eat fruits and berries, and very occasionally small vertebrates.

This is a relatively straightforward project, but maintaining the vibrancy and clarity of the colours is key. Working with blues and oranges, can easily result in brown if you are not careful, and on this bird, the colours are interspersed, so there is a need to be even more careful. I have classed this as an intermediate project, but like I say with all my tutorials, if you like the look of it, just give it a go. Ultimately, you have lots to learn from this lesson, which you will be able to use in any future paintings of birds.
