Trans Pride - LGBTQIA+ - Modern Cross Stitch Pattern - Digital PDF

This is part of my series of cross-stitched pride designs. 🩵🩷🤍

The shark in this piece is for trans icon, Blåhaj. I also wanted to include an organism that can change its sex, so I tucked a clownfish into the seaweed. While you may be aware that male clownfish can change their sex to become female, you may not know that they aren’t the only ones. Around 500 fish species change their sex as adults, including the bluehead wrasse, which can transition from female to male.

For the flowers, I chose to depict roses. There is a phrase in the trans community that says "Give us our roses while we are still here." There are disproportionate rates of violence and murder against transgender people and roses are often associated with mourning the loss of someone close to us. They are a reminder to love and support the trans individuals in your life.

The trans flag is also included as a thin banner, allowing for optional omission from the pattern if you feel unsafe to depict it.

All patterns in my shop have been test stitched. The listing images are photographs of the completed piece.

• 65 x 41 Stitches (2,166 total stitches)
• Size when stitched on 14-count Aida is 4.6” x 2.9” (11.8cm x 7.4cm)
• Size when stitched on 16-count Aida is 4.1” x 2.6” (10.3cm x 6.5cm)
• Size when stitched on 18-count Aida is 3.6” x 2.3” (9.2cm x 5.8cm)
• Stitches used include Full Cross Stitch
• Floss: DMC


🩵 OPINIONS 🩵
• I used 3 strands on 14 count Aida in the preview images. If using 2 strands or a different Aida count, you may need to adjust the amount of floss. This is a matter of the stitcher's preference.
• Colours are a suggestion, not a rule. I select colours based on how they look in real life, as pattern software may skew colours and dye lots may vary. I encourage substituting your colours according to preference or necessity.
• This pattern would work best on light or dark Aida.
