Yeast Cell Keychain, Saccharomyces cerevisiae Keychain

This keychain depicts the yeast cell Saccharomyces cerevisiae in what is known as the "shmoo" phase of cell division (mitosis), with the daughter cell partway through the process of budding off of its parent. On the parent cell, you can see the scars of past budding events, and even the faint outline of the scar left over from the parent's own "birth".

In addition to depicting the exterior of S. cerevisiae, this keychain also opens up to reveal the cell's internal structure. One side of the interior depicts the important features of the cells anatomy, including the nucleus, vacuoles, mitochondria, and other organelles, while the other side depicts features more specific to this phase of the cell's reproduction. Even the tiny paired chromosomes can be seen, aligned for separation. Great for brewers, bakers, biologists, and lovers of vegemite!
