Seller's description

In 1893 a Dental Surgeon turned Industrial Designer introduced lamps in this style at the Chicago Worlds Fair. They were a great success, and became an industrial standard for the next fifty years. The style has staged a comeback recently - originals are highly sought after and several modern versions are now being produced!

If you are looking for a boom lamp with reach, this is the model for you! As pictured the 90 degree brass pole arm is 18" long and the brass drop arm is 24" long. The joints are solid brass and allow the lamp to articulate fully. The solid brass U.L. rated socket features a key-style rotary switch to turn the lamp on and off. The 8" flat shade is also solid brass.

The plug-in versions (pictured) are wired with 12 feet (total) of twisted black cloth covered cord. They accept standard light bulbs (E26 socket) and are equipped with a high quality polarized phenolic repro plugs. The socket and wire are rated for 240V, so this light will work internationally with a change of plug or adapter.

The hardwire versions come with a 5" wide x 1" deep cylindrical brass wall plate. Cord routing is slightly different than pictured for hardwire, but it still has the large exposed loop of cord between the arms.

The dimmer versions are built with a dimmer insert inside the socket. They feature a knurled brass knob instead of the key-style knob pictured. The inserts are rated for US 120V supply only - they will not work with 240V.

These extension lamps are extremely versatile – install one or a pair in your living or reading area, or as a bedside lamp! They can be posed many different ways and provide excellent illumination. Form and function combined, in a refined take on industrial style!

All reviews are from verified buyers. This review is shown automatically based on factors like recency, whether it includes comments, your chosen language, and whether the rating reflects the typical experience with the shop.

“Honestly, this is my favorite ETSY purchase to date! Believe me, Jay’s work is worth the lead time required to fill your order! I am so glad I read reviews added the dimmer switch that others added. I chose an amber Edison style bulb so, when the light is not being used as a task lamp, I use it dimmed for moody soft lighting. Jay answered all questions speedy quick! Packaging was sturdy and lamp was packed safely for cross country shipping. I can’t wait to order another style!”
