Hi all! Kristina here. Mom made a great cloak, I stole it, as you can see in the pictures. I love this cloak, it is so warm and cozi! We don't make the cloaks for sale but we do offer the pattern in PDF form so you can crochet your own. It took much experimentation but she designed this to be a solid cloak with a deep hood. Its great for winter wear or for costuming, SCA, LARP and RenFaires. It is unisex since you can choose your own colors. You can customize it in so many ways too, you can make it longer, shorter, wider, narrower. You could add stripes, color blocks, a trim color, your imagination really is the limit. We've seen it in red for Red riding hood, black for a thieve's cloak, or green for a ranger. Whatever your heart desires.
Images provided by Kate, didn't she do a great job? Her daughters look beautiful. The collage really shows that you could do this in any yarn to make the cloak look totally different. Thanks Kate!!
Here is what it took for us to make it:
Skeins of yarn in your choice of color (size 4) (We used Redheart Super Saver in Purple)
approximately 2500 yards. We don't put how many skeins because each brand has different amount of yardage per skein, check your label.
Size K Crochet Hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
Large blunt eye needle for tucking in your ends
Cloak clasp is optional, we got ours online, you may find it in a sewing store. Really finishes it out.
This is a pretty easy pattern, the only stitch used is DC and there is some increasing and some assembly but nothing complicated, just repetitive and counting.
You are welcome to sell your finished items, but we would appreciate it if you give our shop credit for the pattern (www.2CrochetHooks.etsy.com). We'd also love if you sent us a picture, we love to see the work you guys do, it really makes our day.
