Linsey Woolsey Coverlet Antique Woven Overshot Homespun Wool & Cotton Rare

Antique 19th C. Early American coverlet overshot hand woven wool and cotton. 4 natural dye colors - dark indigo blue, red, gold and natural cotton in homespun horizontal bands with municipal building, birds, stag & doe, oak leaves, acorns and geo designs. Probably woven on a 4 harness loom typical of this era and style with finished selvage and edge fringe. Top & bottom were hand hemmed. Style was often called linsey woolsey, a combination of linen and wool and were usually woven in the mid 1800's. A true antique piece of historical American weaving often found in a bride's trousseau.

Coverlet is 76" w by 80" l shown on a 5' w queen and weighs 3.5 lbs. Found at a Marietta History Museum sale but no known provenance. Please see my other listings & I do combine shipping.

Very good condition for the age & clean with with no moth damage, minimal use with some wear & ravels along edges (pics 4 & 5). Most things I list were loved in another time and minor issues may occur. Sold as found so if you want more pics or info, please ask. Stored in my odor & pet free studio. Free insured G A mail.
