Rare Victorian hand made Chantilly lace jacket circa 1880s. Hand stitched panels of sheer lace with a motif of flowers, fronds and ornate geometric shapes with scalloped front edge. Cut fuller through the back as it would have been made to leave room for a bustle at the back and the sleeves flare out at for dramatic effect. A truly remarkable and extraordinary piece of fashion history and a testament to the level of textiles from this time period. Lightweight and unlined.

Condition - great with just two small repairs to the lace, one at the center back seam just above the center slit and the other at the lower back right side. Please see last photos. No other issues to note and jacket presents beautifully!
