• Start Here - executor, the deceased, date of death, court, case number, attorney, accountant. Set once.
• Tasks - 60 steps across five phases. First two weeks: death certificates, the will, securing the home, photographing the contents before anything is removed, the funeral, forwarding the mail. First month: filing the will, Letters Testamentary, the estate EIN, the estate bank account, Social Security, the credit bureaus, the safe deposit box. Months 1-3: the inventory, appraisals, notice to creditors, reviewing claims, closing accounts and subscriptions, keeping the house insured. Months 3-9: the final tax return, selling property and vehicles, specific gifts. Closing: the final accounting, receipts from beneficiaries, final discharge. Each step has a target day you can edit, a status, who is doing it, a cost column and a note on what people get wrong. Overdue turns orange; due within fourteen days turns yellow.
• Summary - how many done, how many overdue, how many due in the next two weeks, days since the date of death. One page for the family.
