Illinois, nicknamed "the Prairie State," is marked by farmland, forests, rolling hills and wetlands. Chicago, one of the largest cities in the U.S, is in the northeast on the shores of Lake Michigan. It’s famous for its skyscrapers, such as sleek, 1,451-ft. Willis Tower and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower.

Growing up in Illinois, I came to appreciate the gorgeous flat lands and prairies, as well as the bustling, beautiful city of Chicago. I lived there for 23 years and even went to college at the University of Illinois. I definitely have an affinity for my home state.

This hand-lettered Illinois print is my small tribute. It is one in a series of State Shapes I have so far. I hope to eventually have all 50! I think anyone from or currently in the Land of Lincoln would appreciate this print.
