What is "Gold Vermeil" and why do you use it in your designs?

"Vermeil" is a term used to describe the highest quality gold plated items. It is 50 times heavier than standard gold plated items. Vermeil is 2.5 microns (the thickest possible) of 18K gold plating over sterling silver. We use vermeil in a lot of our designs because we love the look, feel and timelessness of real gold without the extravagant cost.

What does "gold filled" mean and why do you use it in your designs?

Gold-filled, or gold overlay, is made by heat- and pressure-bonding a thin layer of 14 karat gold to a brass (or other base metal) core. • Karat gold covers the brass surface, making it tarnish-resistant. • The value of gold-filled is greater than gold-plated because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film. • Gold-filled jewelry is economical. Enjoy the warm tones of gold at a fraction of the cost of pure gold.

When will my order arrive?

International: * Express: 2 days * Regular mail: Approx. 5 business days to 4 weeks (varies by country). * Shipping to Europe, Australia, Antarctica and Asia is usually around 5-10 business days and shipping to South America and Africa can take up to 4 weeks. * Business days - there is no shipping on weekends or holidays.

Does gold vermeil tarnish and will it wear off since it's plated over sterling silver?

Yes, eventually gold vermeil can tarnish as the silver tarnishes. The good news is you can use a jewelry polishing cloth to bring back it's brilliance - just be careful not to rub too hard and wear down the gold plating. Yes, eventually, over the course of years the gold will wear down and the silver underneath may become exposed. You can have it re-plated at a reasonable price at any local jeweler if you choose or just wear it as silver! Of course, removing the pieces when swimming, showering and sweating will help keep the pieces in tact for longer.

How can I clean my silver jewelry?

The best way is to use a polishing cloth, which can be purchase through our shop. But, you can also use warm water and baking soda and gently scrub your jewelry.
