Highlights
The Creature Side Table is a sculptural object that happens to function as a table.
Defined by its stance and silhouette, it reads as a presence in the room rather than background furniture.
Hand-built in solid walnut, each piece is shaped individually, resulting in subtle variation from one table to the next.
⸻
Full Description
The Creature Side Table explores form, balance, and posture through an organic, hand-shaped structure. The design evolved from earlier Plateau table studies, reworked through different leg attachments and profiles until the object felt less assembled and more inhabited.
From across the room, the silhouette leads. Up close, the handwork reveals itself—soft transitions, intentional asymmetry, and edge thickness that shifts subtly as the form moves. No two are identical, but each follows the same underlying geometry and proportions.
This piece is conceived as a sculptural statement first. Its function is quiet and secondary—serving beside a chair, sofa, or bed without competing for attention.
Each table is made individually in my Texas workshop and finished to preserve the natural depth and movement of the walnut.
Custom & Commission Work
This piece can be adapted in size or configuration. Custom commissions are accepted selectively and must be discussed and approved prior to purchase.
⸻
Dimensions (approximate)
• Length: ~30”
• Width: ~21”
• Table surface height: 20”
• Overall sculptural height: ~23”
Dimensions may vary slightly due to the hand-shaped nature of the piece.
⸻
Materials & Construction
• Solid American walnut
• Hand-shaped legs and top
• No veneers or CNC duplication
• Finished to highlight natural grain and surface variation
⸻
Finish
This piece is finished with a durable, furniture-grade system designed to protect the surface while preserving the natural character of the wood. The finish is intentionally low sheen, allowing the walnut’s grain, color variation, and hand-shaped contours to remain visually present rather than sealed under a heavy film. The result is a surface that feels alive, tactile, and appropriate for long-term use.
⸻
Use & Placement
Best suited as:
• A statement side table
• An accent piece beside a lounge chair or sofa
• A sculptural object in an open-plan space
This table is not intended as a utility-heavy or high-abuse surface.
⸻
Variation & Series
This is a repeatable design, not a one-off. Each table will vary subtly in grain, shaping, and surface character while maintaining the same overall proportions and stance.
⸻
Lead Time
Made to order.
Current lead time will be confirmed at purchase.
⸻
Shipping & Returns
