Is this gold platted because it looks like gold?

No, there is no gold on the pendants or charms. They are in solid yellow bronze also called jeweler gold bronze because it looks like antique old gold. It is the natural color of it. It is not coated in anything. The chains and ear wires are in 14k gold filled not bronze.

"14k gold filled" is a thick tube made of 14k gold which is filled with bronze. It contains 100 times more gold than plated and does does rub off. It is not solid gold.

Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. It does not contain nickel.

Will bronze turn my skin green?

It is a possibility yes. Each person is different and has a different PH. On some people it doesn't and on some it does. If the piece is a necklace or pendant there are less chances as it moves around a lot. For a ring or tight bracelet it most probably will. In that case I recommend applying two layers of clean nail polish to the side touching the skin. Bronze has no nickel so shouldn't give an allergic reaction although I know of some cases where people were even allergic to 24k gold so there are no guarantees.

Will bronze change color?

Yes it will tarnish over time and give a nice patina. If you want to keep it clean just use a polishing cloth. It won't get damaged or peel off as it is a solid piece. For more detail on maintenance go to the Product Care page: https://www.visavisjewelry.com/product-care

Can I wear my bronze jewelry in the shower?

We recommend that you do not wear your jewelry in the shower, hot tub, sauna, ocean or swimming pool as moisture accelerates the tarnishing of metals.

My piece seems very light for a solid piece of bronze, why?

Bronze is a light metal, it has a very light density (9g of bronze = 12 g of silver or 14 g of 14k gold) and has been used in jewelry making for centuries for this very reason. The light weight is very convenient for earrings for example as they don't weight a lot even though they might look large.

Are your pieces cast?

No, there are not. I make each piece individually. I carve, sculpt, use my own molds, and make my own stamps and fire all pieces in a kiln. Each piece is different and I use different techniques to achieve the finished look. It is the reason why each piece is slightly different and has an organic look to it. I make bronze pieces and small silver pieces in this technique. Large sterling silver and any sizes solid gold custom orders are cast and take 3-4 weeks to make.

Can you make the pieces in solid gold?

Yes I can cast in solid 14k gold or 18K gold except all designs with hand painted colors. It takes 3-4 weeks to make and is not refundable or returnable once started. Contact me for a quote.

Hand carved dainty round Templier Knights Templar cross necklace.
The Jerusalem cross, also known as Crusaders' cross or the "Five-fold Cross" originates with the coat of arms worn by Godfrey of Bouillon during the First Crusade, and it remained in use as the arms of the King of Jerusalem throughout their duration (1099–1291).
The Lord of Bouillon was the first knight to arrive in Jerusalem and thus free the city from the Muslim occupation.
The cross was later adopted by the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller.
