Custom and personalised orders

For custom orders, I request a minimum of a 50% deposit to commence work. Payments can be split into smaller payments, providing the 50% deposit is met before I start ordering materials or start production. The balance and shipping costs are due on completion, once pictures of the completed item have been seen and approved. If you'd like a no obligation quotation for a custom design, please simply message me.

I hand make hats of all sizes, from doll sized hats through to full sized adult hats, and everything in between. The sizes for all of my hats should be shown in each listing description, however if you cannot see this information, please simply message me. Most designs can be resized if you want a different size to that shown in the listing. For full sized hats, I offer small 22", medium 23" and large 23" standard sizes. I do prefer to work to actual head measurements to ensure the best fit. To measure the circumference of your head, hold a measuring tape, or piece of string, half an inch above your ears, holding it firmly, and send me the measurement taken, in cm or inches.

I make my hats out of genuine milliner's buckram, so they are lightweight yet strong. They can be very carefully cleaned with a duster or damp cloth, like any other hat, but cannot be washed, not even by hand. Please don't get your hat excessively wet! Despite my best efforts to make them rain proof, a heavy downpour or lengthy exposure to showers can damage the decorations I use.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All my orders are sent in sturdy, recyclable cardboard packaging and clearly labelled as 'FRAGILE'. My larger or more delicate hats are sent in double walled boxes for added protection. I use recycled paper and cardboard packing where possible but any bubble wrap or air pockets I use are reused from my own supply orders. I offer gift messages free of charge. I do a simple gift wrap service on request for $5.

Wholesale availability

I do offer wholesale products, however as my prices are kept to a minimum for my customers already, I can only offer a small discount for larger orders. Alternatively, I have some retailers who purchase my products, then increase the prices to sell in their own shop. I have absolutely no objections to this. Providing I get the price I want, I don't mind what you do to sell them yourself!

To wear any mini or midi Ooh La La Boudoir hat, there are 3 hidden elastic loops to the inside of the crown, which means you can use the fixings you prefer. I recommend a hat elastic which I supply, but you can use headbands, clips, grips or combs as you choose. The elastic provided will be fitted through the two side loops, with the ends tied. You may need to adjust the length to get a good, firm fit. The elastic is worn behind the head, at a 45 degree angle from your forehead, with the elastic running behind your ears. Check out my profile picture for positioning. It can take a little time to get use to the fit, so if you need any help on how to wear your hat, don't hesitate to contact me!

I'm a Plus Size bride, do you offer larger garters?

Yes! I can make any of my garter designs to fit. I DON'T CHARGE ANYTHING EXTRA FOR THIS SERVICE. I don't think it's fair to expect a plus size bride to have to pay extra for their garter.

Every item I make is unique to you!

Of course, with all handmade items, every piece made is always a teeny weeny bit different... that's why people buy handmade isn't it? To get the feeling of care, uniqueness and originality! I adore making hats and think it's important to ensure every single piece I make is a one-off. I work to detailed designs for all my items, but sometimes, due to the nature of the materials I use, the occasional trimming, charm or minor detail might be a little different. Obviously, if there's something in particular you like (or don't like for that matter!), it only takes a quick message to ask me to include (or exclude) an element of a design. Usually I'll do this at no extra cost and it means your purchase is even more exclusive to you!

Custom and personalised orders

Generally, custom orders on Etsy are not automatically refundable. Custom or personalized items, which are made to order and tailored to a buyer's specific requests, are non-refundable, unless the custom item is significantly different from what was agreed upon or if it's damaged. Then the buyer may be entitled to a refund or a replacement. Please contact me in the first instance if you have any questions regarding this.

This black formal top hat is handmade using millinery buckram and a flocked velvet feel taffeta fabric. Ready to wear or add your own decorations.

My line of plain hats without decorations, are handmade to my usual standards and covered in a stunning range of fabrics. The only difference to my higher priced hats are these hats come without any decorations, to enable you to finish the hat to your own style and taste.

Simply add a scarf, ribbon or goggles and your set! Alternatively let your creativity run wild and add as many decorations as you want!

For many, Steampunk and costuming is all about having a go yourself, so these plain hats give you a top quality, handmade hat as a perfect base for your own creativity!

As all my hats are made to order you get to choose the size (including a made to measure option) and height of your hat (please see picture 8 for the options tall, medium or short).

I prefer to make your hat to measure (the circumference taken half an inch above your ears), but if you’re buying for someone else I do offer standard sizes of extra small, small, medium, large or extra large (21, 22, 23, 24 or 25 inches respectively). I can also include padding strips for the most comfortable, perfect fit!

GENUINE QUALITY

Based on authentic historical techniques, I’ve developed my own processes, using a mix of sewing and gluing, to produce lightweight but sturdy hats. There’s no cardboard or plastic in my hats, I only use genuine milliners buckram!

Regardless of size, all my hats have an open crown, are fully lined and have a curved brim with a sewn edge. My full size hats also have a mouldable, wired brim. My fabulous range of fabrics are iron pressed into place to prevent unsightly gathering. I strive for quality and artistry, which is reflected in my pricing.
