The letter “Shin” is also painted on it to represent “Shaddai,” one of the biblical names of God, which also serves as an acronym for “Shomer Daltot Yisrael.”

Our Mezuzah scrolls are written by hand, with a quill made of a feather, by a qualified Scribe ("sofer stam") who must declare his purity of intention before starting to write it.
