This vintage chicken huck towel embroidery pattern from the 1930s is different from the geometric patterns usually seen; a charming barnyard picture of baby chicks scurrying about as both hen and rooster look on. The pattern was drafted from a vintage towel and has been slightly altered to fit on the slightly narrower modern huck material.

Huck fabric, or “huckaback” is still available at fabric stores as well as online. It is an extremely durable cotton that holds up well to the type of wear a kitchen towel will get.

Huck embroidery is sometimes known as Swedish weaving, huck darning, or huck weaving. No matter what name you know it by, it’s an easy technique that can give stunning results.
