A Japanese bamboo printing baren is an essential part of any print tool kit. Ideal for both a beginner or somebody well into their printing journey, this tool will help transfer the ink from linoleum to paper, giving you the best possible result.

The bamboo skin references the traditional Japanese material used in its making. Barens are often used to hand print relief blocks by application of consistent pressure to the reverse of the paper. I would suggest using lighter weight papers 60 to 120g weight for hand printing method but can be used with any weight or type of printmaking papers. For use with water or oil based relief print inks, mainly the baren does not make contact with ink.

This item is a natural bamboo baren size 10cm diameter, sourced from Japan.
This makes a great small gift or stocking filler for a print or creative maker, we carefully fold the baren in printed tissue paper before sending out to customers and include a small note to explain it's origin.
