Original Wildflower Watercolour Paintings by UK Based Artist Paul Hopkinson
DOG ROSE:
A Dog Rose is a thorny climber, which scrambles around in hedgerows. It has curved thorns, which enable it to ‘hook’ on to other plants in order to weave in and out of them. The soft pink flowers are an important source of nectar, and they are followed by red hips in the autumn. These are loved by birds and small mammals.
Painting Dimensions
Painting size 11.6 cm x 9.8 cm or 4.6'' x 3.9''
Paper size 26.1 cm x 18.1 cm or 10.3'' x 7.1''
SCARLET PIMPERNEL:
Scarlet Pimpernel (Anagallis arvensis) is a fairly wide-spread British wildflower. It used to be known as the ‘Old man’s weathervane’ and sometimes the ‘Shepherd’s weather-glass’. These lovely names refer to the ability of the plant to close its flowers as bad weather approaches.
Painting size 9.5 cm x 9 cm or 3.7'' x 3.5''
Paper size 31 cm x 23 cm or 12.2'' x 9.1''
DOG VIOLET:
The Dog Violet is the most familiar wild violet here in the UK. From late March through to June they can be seen in hedgerows, grasslands and woodlands. Sadly the flower has no scent which is a shame. However, it is a really important plant for various species of fritillary butterfly which lay their eggs on it. They will also dine on it too!
Painting Dimensions
Painting size 9 cm x 16 cm or 3.5” x 6.3”
Paper size 15.5 cm x 23 cm or 6.1” x 9.1”
Please note that frames and mounts are for illustration purposes only and are not included.
Packaging & Materials
I have used an excellent quality watercolour paper and the finest of brushes to produce the tiny details which bring this painting to life.
The painting will be carefully wrapped in cellophane and protected with additional packing. I aim for my originals to arrive with you in the same condition that they left me. I use the Royal Mail’s ‘Signed for Next Day’ or ‘International Tracked’ service.
