This design was inspired by a Greek crochet designer Maria Milona, who has a very similar styled bag on YouTube. I loved her pattern so much, but I could not figure out the math she used and I disliked the difficulty of her stitch pattern, so I tried recreating the look with the half double herringbone stitch. I also implemented the ‘join as you go’ method I created so that you are not sewing the 2 main pieces of your bag together. I have included a YouTube tutorial for this project and linked throughout the pattern.

The pattern includes instructions for 2 sizes of bags; one for a 9" zipper and one for a 14" zipper. The pattern also includes instructions for how to improvise and make it any size you desire.

Supplies Needed:
- Approx. 160-216 yds of Big Twist Textile yarn, super bulky weight size 6 (found at Joann’s. You could also triple ww size 4 yarn, or quadruple DK size 3 yarn to get the same effect. You just want your stitches to be sturdy and stiff so the bag will hold its shape)
- Size L 8.0 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- 2 D or O rings for strap attachment
- An adjustable strap or I also made a matching strap (not adjustable) using the herringbone stitch pattern and I have linked the video in the pattern.
- 1 9” (14") zipper in a matching color to your bag OR a 25 mm wooden bead for a button closure option
- 1 14 mm and 1 16 mm wooden beads (Optional. For tassel embellishment on zipper pull)
- 1 small lobster clasp (Optional. For tassel embellishment on zipper pull)
- Clear nylon thread and a regular sewing needle (for sewing in the zipper)
-Yarn needle, measuring tape, scissors, and 4 stitch markers
