WILL IT GET THROUGH THE APPLICANT TRACKING SYSTEM?

This is the question that actually matters, so I will answer it properly. Most
medium and large employers run your CV through an applicant tracking system,
or ATS, which reads it into a database before a person sees it. A pretty
template that confuses the parser can lose you the application before anyone
reads a word.

This design is rated: GOOD

Every template I sell is built to the same rules:

• No text boxes anywhere — the most common reason a CV arrives blank in a
database.
• Contact details in the body of the document, never in a header or footer,
which many parsers skip entirely.
• No nested tables in the header, so your email address and phone number are
always found.
• Conventional section headings — Experience, Education, Skills — the words
every parser recognises.
• Standard Microsoft Office fonts, so nothing substitutes or reflows on
another machine.
• Letter-spacing kept within the limit at which PDF text extraction still
reads a heading as one word — a detail most templates get wrong, and one
you only find by testing the PDF.

And I tested it rather than assuming — twice over, because there are two
journeys. Every file was opened programmatically and its text read back in
document order, recursing into tables the way a parser does, to confirm the
name comes first and the email address and phone number are both found. Then
every file was exported to PDF and re-extracted, because a PDF is what you
actually send and it fails differently. All ten files passed both.

One honest caveat: no template can guarantee an interview, and no seller can
promise a specific system will parse a specific file perfectly. What a
template can do is avoid the known structural mistakes. This one does.

HOW YOU EDIT IT

1. Download and unzip. Pick your colour and your page size.
2. Open the .docx in Microsoft Word and save a copy under your own name.
3. Click into any line and type over the sample text. The formatting holds —
fonts, spacing, colours and alignment all stay put.
4. Export a PDF (File › Save As › PDF) and send that to employers.

No design skills needed, no subscription, no fonts to install. It also opens
in LibreOffice Writer (free), Apple Pages and Google Docs — Word gives the
most faithful result, and the guide explains the small differences to expect
elsewhere.


A4 AND US LETTER — BOTH INCLUDED, BOTH TESTED

US Letter is about 18 mm shorter than A4, so a layout that fits one does not
automatically fit the other. Most sellers give you one size and let you
convert it, which is how a one-page CV quietly becomes two. Every colourway
here is supplied in both sizes, laid out and page-tested in each.

Use A4 for the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India and most of the
world. Use US Letter for the United States and Canada.
