Our Story
•CAS CAS• COLORING OUR LIVES.
There are many dreams and ideas that are lying there, in the back or our minds, some disappear with the years, but some somehow survive. Well, one of our dreams, one that stayed there for quite a long time and sometimes even looked like it didn't really belong to anything, started to take shape. It was the meeting with incredibly motivated and positive partners that we have met in Senegal what made this dream become slowly a reality.
We stayed two weeks at a friend's family house outside Dakar and spent hours in their living room, telling stories about our lives, hearing stories and getting to know many people that just passed by everyday, and all day. Our minds and hearts opened up every day a bit more, listening to the different stories told to us, learning more about Senegal’s culture, we laughed openly and disputed our differences with much love and no judgement.
Izik painted portraits that reflected the moment and gave us all another perspective.
We couldn't ignore the repeating quest for a future outside of Senegal, so many of the young people we met, wanted nothing more than… to go out to Europe.
We made repeating jokes about it, but we also held some serious conversations about it. We could not understand why they would want to leave such a friendly and supporting environment, but as we spoke more, we could see the need: for greater freedom and more opportunities. We are now more motivated than ever to go on with our dream, that suddenly became so clear to us, it is not about fashion or money, it is all about sharing, sharing our opportunities, exchanging knowledge, exchanging resources. I remember the last night, while we were counting our first models. We settled the payment and then went on to long speeches about each other, how wonderful and efficient our tailors are and they shared with us their hopes for the future success. And then I watched us all from aside, thinking to myself - that's how it is supposed to be:
A business that serves people and not people who enslave themselves to business.
We share a hope for a prosperous and happy future together, lots of love and many funny moments, these are our creations, we will go on trying different designs...Toubab clothes, made in Senegal by our new magical team!

4 out of 5 starsCloth is BEAUTIFUL! There are problems; yet, I am still glad I found it. Kimono itself is way too too BIG!!! Enormous! And, the sewing is noticeably not correctly set. The 2 front pockets are not set equally. One pocket is 3 inches away from edge of front kimono opening and other pocket is set 4 1/2 inches away from the other front edge side. Had to take it to tailor for repairs.

4 out of 5 starsI'm not quite sure what I was expecting. Maybe more of a sweater/hoodie like thing not so much of a island thing. I dunno, I'm not unhappy. It is just different.

5 out of 5 starsI gave this as a gift and the receiver loved it. It was beautifully made. The printing of the design is clear and the design itself is so unique and beautiful. I was nervous about the one size order, but it appeared to fit her fine. As a petite person myself, it would have been way too long and voluminous on me, but it worked for the person I gave it to. It would be nice if there were different basic sizes like small, medium, and large. Then I would have been able to purchase this non-returnable item with more confidence.
