Los primeros pompones que hice fueron para exhibirlos en la sala de exposición de la tienda de alquiler de artículos para eventos especiales donde trabajaba. Las novias entraban constantemente a preguntar si se los vendíamos, a lo que yo respondía: "¡No, pero les enseñaré a hacerlos!". Durante unas semanas, organicé sesiones de bricolaje con cada novia, compartiendo mis secretos para conseguir el pompón perfecto.
Gracias al apoyo de mi padre, con espíritu emprendedor, decidí dar el salto y subirlos a Etsy. No tenía ni idea de dónde me estaba metiendo. Hice una venta el primer día y en cuatro meses pude dejar mi trabajo y dedicarme por completo a crear artículos de papel de seda en mi taller del sótano.
Paperwhite Designs es una empresa unipersonal. Me encargo de todo, desde la producción de los pompones, los pedidos y el inventario, el marketing en redes sociales y la correspondencia por correo, hasta la impresión de las etiquetas de envío y los envíos diarios a la oficina de correos. Aquí a menudo parece un circo, y el suelo de mi taller parece Times Square después de medianoche en Nochevieja, pero eso es lo que hace que mi trabajo sea el mejor. Estoy rodeada de color y creatividad, y siempre hay algo nuevo.
Me inspira constantemente la creatividad que veo en muchos de mis clientes al incorporar mis productos en sus fiestas y celebraciones. Estoy muy agradecida con Etsy y todos mis maravillosos clientes por permitirme mantener a mi familia mientras hago algo que me apasiona.
The very first pom poms I made were for a display in the showroom of the special events rental shop where I used to work. Brides would come in all the time asking if we sold them to which I would reply, "No, but I'll show you how to make them!" For a few weeks I was holding DIY sessions with bride after bride sharing my secrets to the perfect pom.
After the encouragement of my entrepreneurial minded father, I decided to take the plunge and put them on Etsy. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had a sale my very first day and within 4 months I was able to quit my day job and devote all of my time to creating tissue lovelies in my basement workshop.
Paperwhite Designs is a one woman operation. I handle everything from the production of the pom poms, ordering & inventory, social media marketing, and email correspondence to the printing of the shipping labels and daily post office runs. It often feels like a circus around here, and the floors of my workshop look like Time Square after midnight on New Years Eve, but that's what makes my job the best. I'm surrounded by color and creativity, and there is always something new going on.
I'm constantly inspired by the creativity I see from so many of my clients in the ways they implement my products into their parties and celebrations. I'm so thankful for Etsy and all my wonderful customers for enabling me to support my family all while doing something I love!
