Tout a commencé avec un morceau de marbre.
Pas le genre de dalle polie qu'on voit dans les halls d'hôtel, mais une simple plaque brute, d'apparence banale, trouvée chez un tailleur de pierre. En la retournant, j'ai aperçu des veines : de délicates lignes grises qui sillonnaient la pierre blanche, telles des volutes de fumée figée. J'ai appris plus tard que ces veines s'étaient formées sur des millions d'années, témoins des mouvements et des tassements de la terre bien avant que l'homme n'y pose le pied.
J'ai ramené cette dalle chez moi. Je l'ai façonnée, poncée, polie à la main pendant des heures. Il en est résulté un plateau : simple, lourd, frais au toucher. Il contenait mes clés et ma monnaie. Mais il captivait aussi mon attention. Chaque fois que je le regardais, je me souvenais qu'il était ancien. Qu'il avait attendu dans l'obscurité que je le découvre.
C'est ainsi que Trueround a vu le jour.
**Le Marbre**
Tous nos plateaux en marbre sont taillés dans de la pierre naturelle extraite de carrières du sud de l'Europe et d'Asie. Nous n'utilisons jamais de résine ni de pierre reconstituée. Ce que vous voyez est un produit naturel. Chaque plateau est poli à la main pour obtenir une finition lisse et douce au toucher, idéale pour un usage quotidien. Le veinage de chaque pièce est unique : vous ne recevrez jamais deux plateaux identiques.
**La Porcelaine**
Nos tasses de Jingdezhen proviennent d'un unique atelier situé dans la ville qui a donné naissance à la porcelaine. Les fours de Jingdezhen fonctionnent depuis la dynastie Song, et les artisans avec lesquels nous collaborons perpétuent une tradition ininterrompue de maîtrise de la céramique. Chaque tasse est tournée ou façonnée à la main, puis émaillée en petites séries. Les légères variations de forme et d'émail sont intentionnelles : elles témoignent du travail d'un artisan, et non d'une machine.
**Pourquoi nous faisons cela**
Nous vivons dans un monde d'objets identiques. Le même téléphone. Les mêmes meubles. La même tasse à café blanche sur des milliers de bureaux.
Nous pensons qu'il existe une autre solution.
Un objet chargé d'histoire – géologique ou culturelle – transforme votre perception d'une pièce. Il vous oblige à ralentir. Il attire votre attention.

It started with a piece of marble.
Not the polished kind you see in hotel lobbies, but a rough, unremarkable-looking slab I found at a stonemason's yard. When I turned it over in my hands, I saw the veins—delicate grey lines running through the white stone like frozen smoke. I learned later that those veins were formed over millions of years, a record of the earth shifting and settling long before humans ever walked on it.
I took that slab home. I shaped it, sanded it, polished it by hand for hours. What emerged was a tray—simple, heavy, cool to the touch. It held my keys and loose change. But it also held my attention. Every time I looked at it, I remembered that it was ancient. That it had waited in the dark for me to find it.
That's how Trueround began.
**The Marble**
All our marble trays are cut from natural stone sourced from quarries in southern Europe and Asia. We never use resin or engineered stone. What you see is what the earth made. Each tray is hand-polished to a smooth, eggshell finish that feels soft to the touch but is durable enough for daily use. The veining on every piece is unique—you will never receive the same tray as anyone else.
**The Porcelain**
Our Jingdezhen cups come from a single workshop in the city that gave the world porcelain. Jingdezhen's kilns have been firing since the Song Dynasty, and the craftsmen we work with are part of an unbroken lineage of ceramic mastery. Each cup is wheel-thrown or hand-built, then glazed in small batches. The slight variations in shape and glaze are intentional—they are the signature of a human maker, not a machine.
**Why We Do This**
We live in a world of identical things. The same phone. The same furniture. The same white coffee mug on a thousand desks.
We think there's another way.
An object with history—geological or cultural—changes the way you experience a room. It slows you down. It makes you notice.
