PrintVelvet Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how and when I collect, use and share your information when you buy from PrintVelvet, contact me, or otherwise use my shop on Etsy.com. It does not cover Etsy or any other third party I do not own or control; see the Etsy Privacy Policy for Etsy's practices.
INFORMATION I COLLECT
PrintVelvet sells digital downloads only. To complete your order, Etsy shares with me the information you authorized it to provide: your name, email address, Etsy username, order details and, where Etsy provides it, your billing country or region for tax purposes. Etsy processes your payment; I never see your full card details. If you message me, I also receive what you choose to send.
WHY I NEED YOUR INFORMATION AND HOW I USE IT
I rely on these legal bases:
- To provide my services: delivering your files, answering your questions, and resolving problems or disputes.
- Legal obligations: keeping sales records as required by Canadian tax law.
- Legitimate interests, where they are not overridden by your rights: running and improving my shop, preventing fraud, and meeting my obligations under Etsy's Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
- Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, if I ever offer a mailing list. I do not run one today and never send marketing you did not ask for.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
I share your information only in limited circumstances:
- Etsy, as needed to provide my services and meet Etsy's policies.
- Service providers that help me run the shop, only as needed for that service: Amazon Web Services (secure cloud storage, email delivery, and AI tools that help me draft replies to your messages). These providers may not use your information for their own purposes. I do not sell your information, and it is not used to train AI models.
- Business transfers: if I sell or merge my business, as part of that transaction and only as the law allows.
- Legal compliance: when I believe in good faith it is necessary to respond to legal process or government requests, enforce my policies, prevent fraud or security issues, or protect the rights and safety of my customers or others.
DATA RETENTION
I keep your information only as long as needed to provide my services and as this policy describes. Canadian tax law requires me to keep sales records for six years, so order records are kept for six years and then deleted. Messages are kept for up to two years unless a dispute requires longer.
TRANSFERS OUTSIDE YOUR COUNTRY
I am based in Alberta, Canada. My service providers store and process information in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than where you live. For buyers in the EU, UK and Switzerland, these transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, including Canada and the EU, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information I hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct, restrict or delete it. Unless I must keep it for legal reasons, I will delete it when you ask.
- Object to my use of it based on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent you have given.
- Complain to a data protection authority: in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta; in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in the EU, your local data protection authority.
I will reply within 30 days.
