Mein Name ist Eiko. Ich bin Bildhauerin und Buchmacherin.
Ich bin in Japan geboren und in den USA ausgebildet worden. In meiner Kindheit in Japan war ich umgeben von japanischer Manga-Kunst und wunderschönem traditionellem japanischem Kunsthandwerk aller Art. Ich habe schon immer alles Handgemachte geliebt. Besonders angetan bin ich von handgefertigten Papierobjekten.
Ich teile die japanische Ästhetik, Schönheit in Schlichtheit und solider Handwerkskunst zu finden. Ich glaube, dass Gebrauchsgegenstände immer gut verarbeitet sein sollten. Diesem Anspruch strebe ich nach. Meine Notizbücher verzichten auf unnötigen Schnickschnack. Jede Notiz, die Sie hinein- oder hineinschreiben, und jeder Kratzer auf dem Leder sind für mich die schönste Verzierung.
My name is Eiko. I am a sculptor and a book maker.
I was born in Japan, and I was educated in the United States. While growing up in Japan, I was surrounded by Japanese manga art and beautiful Japanese traditional crafts of all kind. I have always loved all things that were made by hand. I am especially drawn to handmade paper objects.
I share the Japanese aesthetic of finding beauty in simplicity and solid craftsmanship. I believe that functional objects should always be well-made. I strive to meet that goal. My journals don't have unnecessary adornments. Any marking you make in or on the journal and every scratch you accumulate on the leather are the best embellishments I can ever imagine :)
