Ich war schon immer von Insekten fasziniert (und manchmal hatte ich auch Angst!), aber als ich in den Florida Panhandle zog, entwickelte sich mein Interesse zu einem Hobby. Plötzlich wurde jedes streunende Insekt im Garten zu meinem Haustier und meine Sammlung toter Exemplare lief über. Ich habe gelernt, wie einfach es ist, Insekten in meinem Wohnzimmer zu züchten, und fand ihren Lebenszyklus für mich und andere lehrreich. Allerdings war es ein sehr experimenteller Prozess, da es nicht viele nützliche Informationen zur Haltung von Wirbellosen gab. Insekten stellen den größten Anteil aller Organismen auf der Welt dar und dennoch wissen wir praktisch nichts über sie. Ich möchte meine Leidenschaft mit der Welt teilen, um das zu ändern, auch wenn es nur ein Fehler nach dem anderen ist.

I had always been fascinated by insects (and sometimes terrified!) but when I moved to the Florida Panhandle my interest exploded into a hobby. Suddenly any stray insect in the yard became my pet and my collection of dead specimens was overflowing. I learned how easy it was to breed insects in my living room, and found their life cycles educational for myself and others. However, it was a very experimental process as there was not much useful information out there on keeping inverts. Insects represent the largest percentage of the world's organisms and yet we know virtually nothing about them. I want to share my passion with the world to change that, even if it's one bug at a time.
