With my camera as a constant companion and growing up in the Pacific Northwest, being a Nature Artist & Photographer comes instinctively.
Whether walking on a beach hearing the thunderous crashing of the ocean surf, breathing the rich moist air of a needle carpeted forest after a rain, or pausing to splash my feet in an alpine pool during a hiking … creation takes my breath away. At the same time breathes life into me. Eco or Nature Therapy as I have come to call it.
My work reflects my fascination with the similarities I see between nature’s ability to bounce back and re-create after devastating environmental storms, and our own ability to transform from setbacks and/or life altering changes (storms) in our personal environments.
In nature- landscapes are changed by weather, storms, time and people. Yet the land adapts, rebuilds and transforms into beautiful new landscapes. We as people are similar. Changes in our environmental conditions are not always by choice, but we adjust, rebuild and most times something stronger and more beautiful are the results.
My hope is to capture and release thru my art, the “nature experience” with all its therapeutic effects. Working in Clay and using Acrylics with Sculpting gels, gives me the opportunity to add dimension, texture, pattern, and motion into my creations- bringing more expression and life into my work. Using specialized glazing techniques and combinations, each piece is a unique work of art.
