Un serpente, un gancio e un insegnante d'arte

Mia nonna mi ha insegnato a lavorare all'uncinetto in tenera età. Nel corso degli anni ho imparato l'arte dell'uncinetto più e più volte, ma mai con lo zelo che ho per questo ora. Forse dovrei attribuire la mia passione per l'uncinetto al serpente.
Sì. Ho detto serpente. Il 4 luglio 2005, sono stato morso al piede da un serpente testa di rame nel mio cortile. Per farla breve: ho trascorso settimane a riprendermi. Dal momento che tutto quello che potevo fare era stare lontano dalla gamba, dovevo tenere il cervello e le mani impegnate. Sono un artista e il bisogno di essere produttivo mi stava guidando... Così ho ripreso l'uncinetto. E da allora non mi sono più fermato. Sono ossessivo nel mio bisogno di creare qualcosa di nuovo ogni giorno. L'uncinetto è un pezzo del puzzle che mi rende quello che sono. Ripenso a quella fatidica notte del quattro luglio, e dovrei dire; la testa di rame mi ha fatto un enorme favore!
Mettendo da parte tutti i pensieri snaky.... Il mio "lavoro quotidiano" è essere insegnante d'arte per i miei studenti K-5 meravigliosamente creativi. Come artista e insegnante, credo pienamente che l'arte non si fermi alla tela o al tavolo da disegno. È tutto intorno, anche a forma di filato. Vedo l'uncinetto come un mezzo scultoreo. Le forme, le trame, i motivi, i colori!!! Così tanto con cui lavorare e così tante meraviglie da creare!!! Affronto ogni nuova creazione come un progetto artistico e spero che apprezzerete la natura estetica delle mie creazioni.

Well I've been on Etsy for over 20 years. I'm a newly retired art teacher, and although I miss my students, it's nice to have time to spend on art.
Yarn is one of my favorite art mediums. I view every project I take on as a work of art, and the perfectionist in me makes sure that every detail is just right.
I have a special knack for making crocheted spare tire covers. Something about the zen of mandala art maybe? And I've been lucky. Disney Studios bought one of my covers to use on a jeep in the movie "Hollywood Stargirl". You can even see it on the movie trailer! Also, 3 of my covers were accepted by the art head at CBS Sunday Morning to be used in upcoming show segments!
I'll never stop crocheting. It gives me piece. It fulfills the creative spirit. Each piece made is a part of my heart. I hope you'll see the love and care I put into my art.
