Craft shows lead to craft business
J’ai commencé à faire des arcs de cheveux il y a plusieurs années. Une amie adoptait deux enfants ayant des besoins spéciaux de Chine en même temps et je voulais l’aider. J’ai fait quelques arcs et je les ai vendus à des amis et à des collègues, qui en ont ensuite parlé à leurs amis. Ils m’ont acheté des arcs aussi et j’ai donné tous les bénéfices à mon amie pour son adoption. Très vite, un collègue m’a incité à faire ma première exposition d’artisanat. Quand j’ai vu à quel point mes arcs se vendaient bien, j’ai su que je continuerais même après que mon amie ait ramené ses enfants à la maison (et elle l’a fait!)
Je fais maintenant entre 8 et 10 expositions d’artisanat par an. Je fabrique tout le temps et j’essaie constamment de nouvelles choses et j’obtiens de nouveaux matériaux à essayer. On ne sait jamais ce que je vais faire ensuite ! Je ne liste que les articles que j’ai en stock afin de pouvoir les expédier rapidement. Je ne veux pas que vous attendiez votre achat.
Ma boutique s’appelle Red Thread Bows parce qu’il y a un proverbe chinois qui dit qu’un fil rouge lie des gens qui sont destinés à se rencontrer. Ce fil peut s’emmêler ou s’étirer, mais il ne se brisera jamais. Votre fil de discussion vous a amené à ma boutique aujourd’hui et je suis si heureux qu’il l’ait fait!
I began making hair bows several years ago. A friend was adopting two special needs children from China at the same time and I wanted to help her out. I made a few bows and sold them to friends and colleagues, who then told their friends about them. They bought bows from me too and I gave all the profits to my friend for her adoption. Pretty soon, a colleague talked me into doing my first craft show. When I saw how well my bows sold, I knew that I would continue even after my friend brought her children home (and she did!)
I now do between 8-10 craft shows a year. I craft all the time and I am constantly trying new things and getting new materials to try out. You never know what I am going to make next! I only list items I have in stock so that I can ship them quickly. I don't want you to wait for your purchase.
My shop is called Red Thread Bows because there is a Chinese proverb that says that a red thread binds people together who are destined to meet. That thread may tangle or stretch, but it will never break. Your thread brought you to my shop today and I am so glad it did!
