Kallima inachus chinensis dead leaf butterfly real butterfly unmounted for artwork taxidermy art project insect collection
Please read complete description before ordering.
There is a lot of butterflies mimicking dead leaf, but the Kallima genus may contain the best looking ones. I had the chance to see them in the wild in India in 2013, and even in Laos. You need two of them to show both sides in your collection !
Specification : Unmounted and folded in paper enveloppe. You will have to open it yourself after proper humidification, please look and read instructions on our Youtube channel if you are not familiar with the naturalisation of real insects. It's like when you buy a puzzle or a BBQ, it's not "done" when you open the box, you have some work to do by yourself. However, it's not complicated and people have been collecting insects for hundreds of years and even kids can easily learn how to do it.
You want to start your own collection, or are you an artist who needs real insects for a project ?
We offer dried and papered specimens you can moisten a little bit at home to relax the articulations.
This way, you can place the legs, wings and antennae the way you want.
There are many tutorials on our Youtube channel explaining this easy technique :

Here is how we grade the quality of our specimens :
Keep in mind it's a real dead bug, not an artificial product made in rubber or plastic. It's like diamond, real ones have imperfection and fake ones are perfect. Please keep that in minds when ordering, specificaly if it's your first time dealing with real dead insects, it's a taxidermy project, you will have to get some work done to get results. Please consult our Youtube channel to see how professionals works, it's not complicated. If you want to have no work to do, please consult our framed section.
A1 = As perfect as all reasonable expectations dictate.
A1 / A1- = Virtually perfect and fresh. A minor flaw or so. Sometimes only antennae damage. Excellent quality at significant savings.
A1- = Flaws, but generally respectable. Sometimes only antennae damage
A2 = Second quality, like a missing leg, but if you only want the shell this is a significant saving.
The photos and videos are taken with an iPhone 11 pro in front of a simple white background. We have two powerful LED spotlights for lighting. We try to take pictures from several angles to show all the details and color variations. On the other hand, our products are real dead insects and there is always variation between specimens. We always choose a specimen that we think is representative, but keep in mind that you are buying real dead insects here and you will receive a specimen that may have smalls variations from the example shown here. It's like when buying a cat or a dog, even within the same breed individuals will all be unique and slightly different from each other.
